I am BEYOND excited for Fall to be here, and for it to finally FEEL like Fall. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been in Fall mode since September started, but it feels even better now that the weather has cooled down and the leaves are changing. Fall has been my favourite season for the last few years (it used to be summer), and I’m even more excited this year because our baby girl is going to be here so soon! One thing that I absolutely LOVE about the Fall is the fact that it’s literally the most perfect season to incorporate self-care into your days. If you’ve been following me for a while, then you know I’m a huge fan of taking time for yourself and indulging in a little (more like A LOT) of self-care. The Fall makes it that much easier to make a routine out of this, because it’s the perfect season for feeling cozy and wanting to pamper yourself.
In this post I’m sharing some super easy ways to incorporate self-care into your daily Fall routine. Most of these are things that you might be doing anyways as part of your Fall traditions, but if you have the intention of making it about self-care and putting away other distractions, you can get soo much more out of it.
Go for a walk
OK, this one seems like a no-brainer with all of the stunning colours on the trees outside. Do something as simple as going for a walk to enjoy some quiet time for yourself while indulging in the beauty that is nature. Fall is the perfect time for long walks or hikes because of how stunning the view is (and as an added bonus you can get some amazing Instagram pictures out of the experience).
Cozy up with a warm drink and a book
I know a ton of you are pumpkin spice latte lovers, so why not make the most of it and cuddle up with a good book while you’re enjoying your next cup. This is one of my FAVOURITE forms of self-care because it gets me all cozy and warm inside, and allows me to get lost in a good book. I love reading, whether it’s focussed on well-being or a good love story, I’m all for it!
Create a bucket list of experiences and check them off
I think the idea of making seasonal bucket lists is absolute GENIUS! We tend to make bucket lists for when we’re turning a milestone age, or just for life in general, but those tend to slip by us and we don’t always get to check a whole lot off. Instead, if you plan for just the immediate season ahead of you, you’re more likely to follow through and check everything off. The Fall is such a good time for doing things both outdoors and indoors such as going to a pumpkin patch, going apple picking, having a cozy night in with friends, etc. Remember, self-care doesn’t always mean that you have to be by yourself, it’s simply the act of doing something that takes care of your mind, body, and soul, so take advantage and soak up all the fun Fall experiences.
Plan an at-home spa night
As the weather is getting cooler the evenings can get pretty chilly, so why not stay in for the night and create your own at-home spa. Diffuse some Fall-scented essential oil blends (or light some Fall-scented candles) to set the mood and have a bubble bath while enjoying a glass of wine and some much needed down time. This is another one of my favourites, because let’s be real – who doesn’t love a good bubble bath?
Do some Fall baking
Baking has always been a huge stress relief for me – not only does the entire house smell incredible by the time you’re done, but you get to experiment with new recipes and create something delicious to enjoy! The best part about doing it in the Fall is that Thanksgiving is right around the corner which means there are a TON of delicious recipes out there to try, whether its pumpkin pie, apple pie, pecan pie (yes I like pie) or a slew of other yummy Fall desserts.
Take part in a Fall challenge
I love doing themed challenges such as a Fall photo challenge (click here for link to My Fall Photo Challenge from last year) or even a weekly self-care challenge. It’s a great way to take some time for yourself each day to accomplish the daily task, and it means you don’t have to think of ideas for yourself because they’re provided for you by the creator of the challenge.
Snuggle up to your favourite movie
If you couldn’t tell already, I love being COZY during the Fall. Something I love to do after a long day at work is to come home, snuggle up under the covers and put on a cheesy romantic Fall movie. Honestly, all of those Hallmark movies each season give me life and are the perfect way to wrap up a long tiring day!
These are some of my favourite ways to incorporate self-care into my Fall routine because they’re so EASY! Most of these are things that we would be doing in the Fall-time anyways. Making time for self-care does not need to be hard – it can be as simple as drinking the pumpkin spice latte that you would have had regardless, but instead of replying to tons of emails while enjoying it, taking the time to read a book and be more intentional about your time instead.
Let me know if you try any of these self-care ideas and if you have any other ideas that you use to incorporate self-care into your Fall routine. Happy Fall <3
