As you know, I am NOT a morning person – waking up, getting ready, being early – totally not my jam. So naturally I try to get every last minute of sleep that I can, which means I don’t leave a whole lot of time for getting ready. Yes, I am definitely that girl who is rushing out the door each morning and my husband hates me for it. That being said, a girl’s still gotta look good! I’ve fine-tuned my morning beauty routine so that it takes me 10 minutes or less each morning which means I get the best of both worlds – I can catch some extra Zzzz’s while still looking great. In this post, I’m sharing all my tips on how you can also cut your morning beauty routine down to just 10 minutes.
Keep it simple.
OK, I totally understand that some of you may have jobs that require you to be in full glam everyday. If that’s the case, 10 minutes may not be super achievable BUT these tips can still help to cut back on your time. For those of you that do NOT require full glam (like myself), try to keep your day-to-day makeup look SIMPLE! Ask yourself what makeup steps are absolutely necessary and what can you reserve for special occasions? For me, I forego foundation most days and use a tinted moisturizer instead (saves a TON of time!). Eyeshadow, eye liner, and highlighter are also a no-go for me on a daily basis. I stick to the basics (concealer, bronzer, blush, mascara, brow pencil, and lipstick) so that I can look put together and professional, but not overdone. Once you’re able to cut out a few items and keep your look simple, you’ll be swimming in extra time to spare.
Be consistent – have a go-to set of products.
I don’t have time each morning to think of what type of look I want to do, and what products I should use to achieve it. Instead, I stick to pretty much the exact same products for my day-to-day look. The only things I tend to switch up is my blush (I usually alternate between 3 different ones for my typical work makeup) and my lipstick (I keep a few different shades in my purse so this doesn’t take much effort). I also stick to a pretty neutral look so I don’t have to waste any time trying to figure out which shades of products look good together, or what matches my outfit. MAJOR. TIME. SAVER.
Keep products within hand’s reach.
This is another great tip, especially for those of you who are like me and have an entire set of drawers full of makeup. NOBODY has time to be searching through a ton of makeup each morning to find what they’re looking for. Instead, I keep all of my routinely used products in my top drawer or on top of my makeup vanity so that I can easily access them when needed. I also keep my go-to brushes separate from all the other brushes so that I can grab them quickly when I need them. It may seem like a trivial thing, but it makes a huge difference when you’re trying to be super quick.
Eliminate unnecessary steps.
OK, this one is important because we tend to do A LOT of unnecessary “extra” steps when applying our makeup. For example, some people apply foundation with a buffing brush first and then follow up with a beauty blender. Choose ONE. Another big time-saver is actually having foundation/concealers that are your exact shade. Eliminate that extra step of having to create your own concoction of multiple shades to find your perfect blend. Also, things like tweezing or trimming our eyebrows can be done the night before so that it’s one less thing you have to worry about during your morning routine. Once you’re able to eliminate all the unnecessary steps, you can save a TON of time.
I pretty much live by these tips when doing my morning makeup routine, because they have truly helped me cut down SOO much time. I literally get my makeup done within 10 minutes each morning, and I usually have a minute or two to spare if I’m really on my A-game. This makes a HUGE difference in the start of my day and helps my morning to be more productive by saving time for other things such as eating a proper breakfast.
I hope these tips help you in making your morning beauty routine shorter and more efficient. Are there any tips and tricks that YOU use that I’ve missed? Let me know in the comments below.
