This post is long overdue (Mia is already 8 months old!), BUT I wanted to still come on and share some of our baby must-haves for 3-6 months. I feel like during this 3 month period we used A LOT of the same key items that we did during the first 3 months after Mia was born, so there are a few overlapping items that were still total must-haves for us. But one of the main changes that we went through was the introduction of SOLIDS!! So exciting and sad at the same time because my little girl is growing so quickly, but we definitely found a few products that we absolutely loved for the transition to solids and I’ll be sharing those today as well. I’ve broken everything down by category to make it easier to go through, so keep reading to see all of our baby must-haves for 3-6 months.
Camilia Teething Relief Medicine – Mia has 2 teeth you guys!! They came out last week and I didn’t think it was possible, but they have made her even CUTER! Even though they only popped out about a week ago, she’s been going through quite a few periods (which started around 4 months) where her gums were in pain as the baby teeth started to make their way closer to the surface. Using a teether usually helps, but if she’s super irritable we give her one of these and they honestly work like a charm! It gives her so much relief and she calms down within a few minutes. I also love that its homeopathic so I don’t have to worry about putting any toxic crap into her body, but can give her some much needed relief for those sore gums.
OogieBear – This is such a neat little tool because it gets out those little boogers in less than a second. It’s also great for scooping out any ear wax that you may notice just inside the ear (and also much safer than using a Qtip).
OXO Tot Baby Blocks Food Storage Containers – Once we introduced Mia to solids (see post on Introducing Baby to Solids), I prepared all of her fruit and veggie purees myself. I would make about 2 weeks worth at a time and store them in the freezer in these containers and just pop one out each morning to thaw. I absolutely LOVE these containers because they are the perfect size, compact, and the little tray that comes with it makes it super easy to store in the freezer.
Bumkins Baby Bibs – I found these bibs on Amazon a little while after we had introduced solids and I loveee the size of them! They are nice and small which is perfect for 4-6month olds who are just getting started. A lot of the other wipeable bibs for solids are so big and baby girl is so small so they would just hang awkwardly around her neck. These are the perfect size for small babies.
Antilop Highchair – YOU GUYS! Did you know Ikea had highchairs? I happened to stumble upon these and was a bit skeptical of the quality because of how cheap they were, but we decided to give them a go anyways and purchase a more expensive one if necessary. We ended up LOVING it. It’s small, compact, and so easy to clean. Heads up – there are no adjustable height or reclining positions, but personally we didn’t find that we need any of that. Mia has always been so comfortable in it (especially with the padded insert), and we have one on our balcony as well to give her somewhere to hang out while we’re out there.
Bath & Potty
Fisher-Price Rinse ‘n Grow Tub – Mia has used this tub since she was born and it’s perfect. We’ve adjusted the sling position as she’s grown but she still fits so well into it and she loves it.
Rascal & Friends Diapers – We tried out a few different brands of diapers over the first few months and now we are exclusively using Rascal & Friends. They are so absorbent and fit so well – we haven’t had any leaks or blowouts since we’ve used them.
Seedlings Diaper Rash Cream – I don’t want to jinx myself here, but we’ve been so fortunate to have never had a diaper rash situation. We use a super tiny amount of this cream on Mia when we put on her last diaper for the night and also if we notice any redness on her bum during daily changes. If there is any redness, it’s always gone by the next diaper change. This stuff is magic and I love that it’s all plant-based ingredients.
Coconut Oil – Any other first time moms get freaked out when your babe started to lose their hair? I completely forgot this was a normal thing and totally panicked, but we started to use fractionated coconut oil (the liquid version) on her hair after bath-time and her hair has grown back so nice and thick.
Baby Shusher – We’ve been using this since our newborn photoshoot as per the photographer’s recommendation, and it is still a huge lifesaver. Mia has grown so accustomed to the “shhh” sound at bedtime so it helps put her right to sleep, and if ever she’s fussy during the night we turn it back on and it helps calm her down. Highly recommend!
YL Essential Oils – We love using our oils in the nursery diffuser for naptime. Our faves are the blends: Seedlings Calm, Gentle Baby, and Sleepyize.
Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Smart Stages Pup – This is Mia’s FAVOURITE toy who we lovingly named ‘Sprinkles’. She’s awesome – she sings and teaches body parts, colours, and more and is so interactive which Mia has always loved.
Sophie the Giraffe – During the 3-6 month stage babies learn to put EVERYTHING in their mouths and Sophie is the perfect toy for this. Mia loves to chew on her head, legs, everything. And the size of her makes it very easy for little babes to hold onto and teach fine motor skills. She’s also super easy to clean since there are no cloth/fabric parts to her.
Lamaze Mortimer the Moose – This is another one of our favourite toys. It’s so cuddly but also stimulating – it squeaks, rattles, chimes, it has so many parts to bite on for sore gums and it can keep baby busy for a long time so you can get some down time.
Every baby is so different and it truly is a game of trial and error when trying to find what things work best for your kiddo so not all of these products may work for you and your babe. But I do hope that this post helps you find at least some products that you love just as much as we do. If you have any other baby must-haves for 3-6 months that I’ve missed, drop them in the comments so others can see.
